Physics with THERA, the TESLA on HERA Collider

Max Klein

The physics potential is discussed of the electron-nucleon collider THERA which, based on the proposed e^+e^- linear collider TESLA and the HERA proton ring at DESY, allows the energy frontier in deep inelastic physics to be advanced up to center of mass energies of about 1.6 TeV, i.e. experimentation at momentum transfers squared Q^2 around 1,000,000~GeV^2 and Bjorken x as low as 10^(-6) in the perturbative region. The talk summarises the results of a recent study within the TESLA Technical Design Phase, i.e. the main physics topics and aspects of the possible realisation of the THERA project and detector.
